New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) of the New Zealand government administers the New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarship program. Students from qualifying Commonwealth nations like India who want to study for an MA or a postgraduate degree such as a master's or doctorate in New Zealand are the target audience for these scholarships.

New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships (NZIDRS)

The SEG offers resources for learners of all ages, from young children to senior citizens, through its more than fifteen educational institutions spread around the Asia-Pacific region (including schools, tertiary institutes, and other educational organisations). The SEG provides educational possibilities in response to the evolving demands of 21st-century society. It supports undergraduate studies in geophysics and allied geosciences (A and B scholarships) as well as other programs (C scholarships).


Value of the scholarships

Scholarship A: NZ$ 7,000 annually 

Scholarship B: NZ$ 5,000 annually

SEG Scholarship C: NZ$ 3,000 annually

The length of the award is one year


New Zealand Excellence Awards


The 8 New Zealand universities—Auckland University of Technology, Lincoln University, The University of Auckland, Massey University, University of Canterbury, The University of Waikato, University of Otago, & Victoria University of Wellington as well as Education New Zealand collaborated to create the NZEA scholarship, which is intended for Indian students.


This scholarship will be awarded to 29 Indian students in total for the 2024–2025 academic year in order to help them with their undergraduate or postgraduate studies in New Zealand. The scholarship usually is between 10,000 to 20,000 NZ$.


Palmerston North City Mayor's Goodwill Ambassador Scholarship


The City Council of Palmerston North sponsors the Mayor's Goodwill Ambassador Scholarship (MGAS), which is used to advertise Palmerston North as a study destination for international students and to publicise events and activities conducted by these students. 


The scholarship can be used to cover a range of educational costs, including tuition, books, housing, and other associated expenses. It may also be required of recipients of the Palmerston North City Mayor's Goodwill Ambassador Scholarship to represent the city and promote its goals both inside and outside of the community. NZD 1,000 towards the first year's tuition is offered for undergraduate, graduate, and career-based/vocational courses.
